Special Education End of Year
The Special Education End-of-Year Student collection is required to obtain data on students who were referred, evaluated, or received special education services throughout the school year. Information is also collected on students who received services in an eligible facility or were tuitioned to an in-state or out-of-state non-public school program or public agency. The data collected includes information on exits from special education, part C evaluations, and the services students in special education are receiving.

Important Announcements
Schools extracting their files through IC should be aware that future Exit Dates are inaccurately pulling onto the Participation file. You should notice these as they do not have a Basis of Exit and the date is in the future. Schools can manually zero fill these or request that CSI does. It sounds like this should be resolved in the April update.
Schools should be aware of the interim deadlines implemented this year. At least half of your errors for Level 1 should be cleared by 4/1 and half of your Level 2 errors should be cleared by 5/1.
Signed Summary Certifications are due June 15, 2026.
File Layouts
File layouts provide guidance on the valid coding and definitions for each data element being collected. File layouts can be found under the “File Layouts” header on the December Count page.
Submissions Training
All school submissions contacts should review relevant training prior to starting the data collection. The New This Year training includes important reminders and changes to be aware of.

Data Validation Resources
Data validation resources should be utilized prior to submitting initial files to CSI and throughout the collection to ensure data is comprehensive and accurate. Regularly using the data validation resources will reduce the number of updates needed at the end of the collection after receiving the Summary Report.
