Preschool and Special Education

With the introduction of Universal Preschool (UPK) in Colorado, CSI preschools had the opportunity to expand opportunities for high quality preschool to all students, particularly students with disabilities. Preschool programming, including preschool special education, is distinct from K-12 programming, as it involves multiple agencies: CDE, CDEC, and CSI as both authorizer and the LEA/AU.

CSI schools with public preschool programs must hire or contract with qualified staff to provide early childhood Child Find and special education services as needed.
